Two Week Look Ahead - September 25, 2020
We are off to a great school year. Even though school is different than it has been in the past everyone is energized and we have all started the year on a very positive note. It is great to see students back in the classrooms at LHS.
School Council:

Attendance for Remote Students and Hybrid Students:
We are changing our attendance policy. All students are going to be required to check-in during Advisory time Monday through Friday for attendance purposes. The (State/DESE) is requiring that we take attendance for all students daily even fully remote students. You will be required to join a google meet for attendance purposes during advisory Monday through Friday. All students will receive a google meet/Classroom Advisory attendance link from your Advisory teacher. THIS IS FOR ALL STUDENTS.

If your student is absent or has an appointment on a Monday please email Mrs. Aro to let the school know you will not be present. We are not in the building on Monday so do NOT call on Mondays. You have to email please and thank you daro@lunenburgonline.com You can also copy the teacher on the email of the class your student is missing.
National Honor Society:
Eligible NHS candidates were notified and completed NHS portfolios are due Oct 9 for consideration by the Faculty Council.

LHS VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, October 1st
- Parents will run through an abbreviated student’s A-G virtual schedule. You will be following your student’s class schedule.
- More detailed information about how open house will work/function will be coming out next week.

CHROMEBOOK:
A friendly reminder to be really careful with the Chromebooks and if possible use a backpack with a padded laptop section, keep the case on and/or purchase a cushioned sleeve. We are still awaiting the arrival of the new Chromebook order for the freshman class. When I have more information I will share that with you.
LIBRARY:
Please return any library books, text books or ELA books you find or know are still checked out to you! Drop off any book returns on the first cafe table and Mrs. Vallee will safely handle and check them back in.
Mrs. Vallee also will take textbooks, public library books, THES books and Lunenburg Primary School books and see that they are returned to the correct location. Don't forget that you can log into your own Destiny account to see what is still checked out or email Mrs. Vallee at pvallee@lunenburgonline.com for a list. Thank you!

(STUCO) STUDENT COUNCIL INFORMATION:
Student Council will be hosting Freshmen elections in the coming weeks. They had a "hybrid meeting" this week with the Cohort B kids in person and the rest streaming in. The kids were super happy to be able to see some of their council members in person!
Class officer and Student Council elections will take place over the next couple of weeks. We ran a virtual election in the spring time and it went really well. This is your chance to get involved! Please pay attention to the following dates and directions.
- Freshman - Class of 2024 Need candidates for President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and 5 Student Council representatives.
- Sophomores- Class of 2023 still need a Treasurer and 1 Stu Co representative.
- Juniors- Class of 2022 still need 2 Stu Co representatives.
- Seniors - Class of 2021 still need 2 Stu Co representatives.

ATHLETICS:
Fall “1” Sports Updates, Reminders, and Information
Please remember to adhere to the following guidelines for Fall “1” Sports:
When arriving to the facility for practices and games students need to sanitize when they enter and exit the facility. Sanitizing stands have been placed at the entrances and exits at the fields.
For the safety of our athletes and coaches, parents and spectators are not allowed to watch practices, please remain in your cars until the practice session is finished.
To continue to disinfect all athletic equipment and athletic equipment bags each night after practice.
To bring lots of water, personal sanitizer, and extra masks to each practice and game.
The Fall coaches will email you each week on Saturday or Sunday with information regarding the team, schedules, and updates; so please be on the lookout.
Game schedules are published on www.mwlma.org click on Lunenburg for school and sign up for notifications regarding any schedule changes this season.
Also remember to follow the athletic department on Twitter @BlueKnightsAD1 for practice and game schedule changes or cancelations, department updates, and games scores for both home and away contests. Below is a schedule for fall games:

Planning ahead: Fall “1” athletic picture day will be on October 14th. We are working on the schedule and logistics, with more information to come soon. Update from the MIAA and DESE regarding towns and cities that enter red or high risk designation in the state of Massachusetts.
