Two Week Look Ahead - October 20, 2017
Good morning. The leaves are finally changing, evenings are cooler, and the fall sports season is winding down. Homecoming last weekend was amazing. I am so proud of how our students represented themselves, LHS, and the entire Lunenburg community. The floats are fantastic and the school spirit was refreshing. Thanks to everyone who came out to support our students and for truly making Homecoming a community event.
There are a few community events that I want to call to your attention:
The Lunenburg Resources for Opioid Awareness and Recovery Task Force “ROAR” is coming to the Lunenburg Middle High School auditorium on Tuesday, October 24 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm. There will be a panel that will include: a parent of a child who died from an overdose, Lunenburg young adults in long term recovery, Mike Duggan (founder of Wicked Sober), Lunenburg Police and Fire officers, and Brian O’Connor (Addiction Specialist from Middlesex Recovery.) Following the panel discussion, the film, “If Only”, created by James Wahlberg and the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, will be presented. The feedback I have heard on the film has been excellent. This program is really targeted for high school age students through adulthood. It is strongly recommended that parents attend this forum with their students.
On Thursday, October 26, we will have evening parent/teacher conferences from 5-8 pm. A message with Pick-a-Time information went out yesterday to conference sign-ups. If you are unable to get a slot through conference sign-ups, please contact a teacher or guidance counselor to schedule a meeting. Afternoon conferences will be on Wednesday, November 1 from 12-3 pm. This is an early release day for students.
William Greene, NFL First Round draft pick, Boston college hall of fame, and NCAA Heisman trophy nominee is coming to LHS on October 31st 2:30 to 3:30 pm to tell his story.
Winter sports sign-up night is Wednesday, November 1 at 6:00 pm in the Middle School Project Room.
